In September of 2001, the handbell choir was revived from a long silence with the start of regular rehearsals. Holy Trinity owned four octaves of Schulmerich handbells at that time and we started off with four people and gradually grew to twelve ringers within two years. These dedicated ringers, almost all of whom started up in those first years, enabled Holy Trinity to purchase the additional 5th octave of bells, plus four octaves of Malmark handchimes, new foam, mallets, lights, and music stands! New table coverings were made and additional tables and pad carrying bags were purchased. The group has participated in festivals, workshops, and in Holy Trinity's hymn festival series.
The enthusiasm this group shows is clearly reflected in their performance of more advanced music. We play for worship approximately once a month. However, even in our success, we never lose sight of the fact that we're ringing for the glory of God and our Savior, Jesus Christ.
Those interested in joining the group should speak to the bell director, Jeff White. There is always a chance an opening will occur, even as a substitute basis. If there is enough interest a second group may be started for newer ringers.
